Reiki for Women with Breast or Ovarian Cancer
Open to people living with breast, ovarian or gynecological cancers.
Reiki is an ancient holistic practice that promotes stress reduction, relaxation and well being. The word 'Reiki' comes from two Japanese words which translate to "universal life force," an energy found within all things - people, animals, plants, rocks, trees...even the earth itself. Reiki practitioners channel that life force, allowing the recipient to utilize the body's own natural ability to reduce stress and anxiety.
In this program, you will learn about the history and uses of Reiki, basic meditation and breathing techniques, and how to use Reiki on your own.
Michelle Carter owns Westchester Putnam Reiki and has practiced Reiki since 2006. She is a Reiki Master in both the Usui and Celtic Reiki traditions. For more information, visit WestchesterPutnamReiki.com.

One Body - Two Hearts
An Open Discussion for Couples Who Are Facing Advanced-Stage Breast or Ovarian Cancer
Open to couples living with advanced stage breast, ovarian or gynecological cancers.
As a couple, facing cancer is challenging, even for the strongest relationships. The chronic nature of an advanced stage cancer requires endurance, support, hope, patience, and a sense of humor. The rollercoaster of emotions and difficulties that couples experience can be overwhelming.
We invite you and your spouse to join us for an open discussion about the challenges couples face together and separately while living with cancer. This discussion group is an opportunity to connect with other couples and share your experiences, ways of coping and finding hope in the present, and knowing that you are not alone.
The discussion will be facilitated by Support Connection Peer Counselor, Robin Perlmutter, LMSW.
Space is limited to 6 couples. Pre-registration is required.

Book Club
Open to people living with breast, ovarian or gynecological cancers.
If you love to read and to share your thoughts about what you've read in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, why not join our new quarterly Book Club where the books read will be chosen by the participants?
For this first meeting of the new quarterly Book Club, we will read "The Twelve Tribes of Hattie" by Ayana Mathis (an Oprah's Book Club 2.0 selection). In her first book, Ayana Mathis tells the story of the children of the Great Migration through the trials of one unforgettable family. In the words of one reviewer,
"The Twelve Tribes of Hattie is beautiful and necessary from the very first sentence. The human lives it renders are on every page lowdown and glorious, fallen and redeemed, and all at the same time. They would be too heartbreaking to follow, in fact, were they not observed in such a generous and artful spirit of hope, in a spirit of mercy, in the spirit of love. Ayana Mathis has written a treasure of a novel."
Support Connection is proud to have Amy Curran Baker leading the group discussion. Amy is the author of "Now What? Guide to Recovery After Mastectomy", Demos Health Publishing 12/2011.
